Privacy Policy
In a nutshell, this is going to let you know how Tania’s Felties (‘we’) manage your personal information to ensure your privacy. Every website you ever go to will say how important it is to them that your data is managed securely… but please be reassured that we take the responsibilities of this very seriously and it’s not something that we’ve entered into lightly. It’s a legal requirement that this information is here but on a more personal note we’d like to explain what goes on. Make yourself a cup of tea, sit yourself down and find out what happens from your first click to felties arriving at your doorstep!
What information we collect about you:
The website (www.taniasfelties.com) is managed via Wix.com and includes their own website analytics which tells us all manner of information. This is anonymised in the first instance and we don’t receive any personal information about you until you either contact us, or purchase something from the store. For example, we know how many people have visited the site within a given period, how they accessed it (from Facebook, Instagram, directly entering the web address or clicking a link from another site etc), whether they were using a mobile, tablet or desktop and roughly where they were in the world (through the use of geolocation). So just to reiterate, no individually identifiable information is provided to us at the initial browsing stage.
Once you’ve found the felties you’re looking for and decide to purchase them, as part of the process we then collect personal information about you. This includes your name, billing and delivery address(es), telephone number, email address and method of payment. If you choose to get in touch, we collect your name, email address and any other details you choose to provide. Your information is stored securely on the Wix site… here’s a little from them that they’d like us to include:
“Our company is hosted on the Wix.com platform. Wix.com provides us with the online platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you. Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.
All direct payment gateways offered by Wix.com and used by our company adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.”
Why we collect information about you:
It sounds obvious but the reason this information is collected is in order to provide you with our services, to provide ongoing customer support, and any personalisation of items you might request. All contact details are retained on the site and are accessible to us. As Wix succinctly put it:
“We may contact you to notify you regarding your account, to troubleshoot problems with your account, to resolve a dispute, to collect fees or monies owed, to poll your opinions through surveys or questionnaires, to send updates about our company, or as otherwise necessary to contact you to enforce our User Agreement, applicable national laws, and any agreement we may have with you. For these purposes we may contact you via email, telephone, text messages, and postal mail.”
How we store and process your personal information:
Access to the Wix website is password protected and the data stored within is used only for the specific purpose of providing you with the best possible customer experience. The address labels we print are direct from the website, so files with your personal details are never stored on the business computer’s hard drive. The hard drive itself is encrypted and could not be accessed by anyone else in the event of theft. One address label and one packing slip is printed per order; these are the only copies made which are stored securely and then delivered to you. Any accidental duplication of printed information would be shredded. Perhaps most importantly, we will never share your information with any third parties unless required to do so by legal authorities with proper authorisation such as a warrant or court order. Somehow, I can’t quite imagine that ever being an issue!
Access / removal of your information:
If you wish for any personal information we hold about you to be provided and / or removed, please contact us. Reasonable steps will be taken to confirm your identity in order to safeguard the information we hold. We take responsibility for ensuring that this policy is followed and if you’ve got any questions, please feel free to contact us at info@taniasfelties.com.
Our policy complies with the Data Protection Act 2018 (Act) accordingly incorporating the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
